Are Man Utd really the richest sports club in the world?
According to this they are, but i don’t understand, what about all that debt? is this everything they own plus turnover? can someone tell me what its based on?

According to that they are the highest valued club. It’s just like a house; the house would have a value of £250000, but the mortgage will be say £200000. So the debt doesn’t affect the value.

Like the guy above me said; they have the highest value ok let’s put this way if you were to sell Man U they’ll bring more money than any other club in the world even American Football. Man City is prolly the richest cuz of its owner and don’t have much debts but couldn’t be sold for anything close to that of Man U or Real.

The Sun is full of s***! Believe it or not Liverpool are now better off than them after the new £80 sponsership deal, the 30 odd million in yearly profits and I read somewhere that LFC also still get like 26 million a year from Carlsberg even after the new sponsership deal comes into place(dont ask me why).
Anyway, the stats for richest clubs came out at the end of last season I think it was Real Madrid- not sure though- but apparently they’re in massive debt now, coz of all they’re transfer dealings. Man City have probably moved way up the list.
LFC FOREVER!!!!YNWA.

Highest value not the richest. The Sun is uses the word richest and then quotes Forbes as saying "highest value".
The debt does not alter the value.
Forbes the respected American business publication valued the Premier League champions at $1.87 billion (£1.14bn) in April, the highest figure in sport.
Forbes has now reassessed its valuations of American football teams, with NFL top dogs the Dallas Cowboys unable to dislodge United from the top spot.
The Cowboys’s annual increase of 2 per cent means they are now worth $1.65bn (£1.01bn), meaning they stay second overall.
The new top 10 of sport’s rich list contains six NFL teams, three football teams and the New York Yankees baseball team.
Real Madrid are football’s second most valuable team, while, perhaps surprisingly, football’s third entry in the overall top 10.
Liverpool and Bayern Munich are the only other sides valued at over $1bn (£612m).
Forbes’s 10 most valuable sports teams
1 – Manchester United – $1.870bn (£1.144bn)
2 – Dallas Cowboys – $1.650bn (£1.009bn)
3 – Washington Redskins – $1.550bn (£948m)
4 – New York Yankees – $1.500bn (£918m)
5 – New England Patriots – $1.361bn (£833m)
6 – Real Madrid – $1.353bn (£828m)
7 – Arsenal – $1.200bn (£734m)
8 – New York Giants – $1.183bn (£724m)
9 – New York Jets – $1.170bn (£716m)
10 – Houston Texans – $1.150bn (£704m)
BTW Wiki misquotes Forbes; read the forbes websites:
