What type of tennis racquet should I get?
I am 16, sophomore, and am looking to be either #1 or #2 singles this year at my school. I am going to train a lot this winter at the indoor club, but I need a new racquet. I currently use a 8 year old HEAD racquet thats all messed up.
My game is a consistent one from the baseline-very defensive forcing them to make mistakes. When I attack I am usually using serve/volley type of stuff. So I need something that is good for both of these. I am willing to pay around $150, or maybe $200 if I can get a bag with it since I dont have one =(
Any suggestions are helpful, thanks!
KFactor KSix-One 95 16×18. A great racket, good spin, control, and power. It’s a little stiff, but if you aren’t prone to tennis elbow, that won’t be a problem. One of its best features is the serve. On the serve, you get great spin and power. And now, since a new line is coming out sometime soon, it’s on sale for 149.99 when it previously was 199.99.

Hey so Ryan I play Tennis 5 times a week and compete in lots of tournaments. I suggest to you the K-Factor Racquets. There are a whole range of the Wilson K-factors at various different prices. I use the K-Six one team and its great. In terms of the bag you may get a bag with a racquet but you can always get a racquet and a bag all under $200.

It’s hard to answer without knowing exactly what you’re capable of. Since money is somewhat of an issue, I checked the sale page at tenniswarehouse.com. There’s some great stuff in there right now.
Check out these frames, there’s quite a wide range in this list:

These frames all range in price from $90 to $120. The best thing for you to do would be to choose a few of these and demo them. Nobody can really know what it is you will like. We can make guesses and suggestions, but racquet choice is completely individual. Just try some frames, and get what you liked the best.
If you decide to look at some of the most current frames out there (non-sale racquets), it’s probably most important to look for something that has a pretty good head-light balance. Will help with the s&v play. And I wouldn’t look to go too light in weight either. I know this really opens up a lot of options. But a thorough search to find the best possible frame for yourself can be pretty involved. Best of luck to you in your search!

I suggest a Yonex Rdis 2 tour racket. It is a fabulous racket and Its really good for more control than power. It is great for serves and gives an extra pop for volleys. The control wil be good for keeping your shots in the court. I bought mine for 170 dollars but its really worth it. Maybe demo it and you’ll like it. Hope I helped!!
