The University Club.

Located on East Jefferson Avenue, one of the last remaining structures from the great clubs of the 1920’s. (The Players Club and the Scarab Club are two that persist to this day.) Recently owned by the YWCA, the structure is now abandoned and is getting scrapped.

Note the Racquet courts in the building. In league with the Detroit Racquet Club, the University Club members would play Racquet here in the building. (Not the same as Racquetball which only dates back to the 1950’s.) I am told by the Players that Racquet is similar to Jai alai.
