Trust me. Buying a guitar in a flurry of excitement only to have it sat days later in the corner of the room staring at you because you don’t know where to begin is common. I know because I’ve done that. But really it shouldn’t be that daunting when you know some of the basics! Everybody has to start somewhere so the key is just giving it a go. Set yourself a plan – include the time of the day you’re going to practice for, where you’ll practice, how long you’ll practice for each day and what you’ll practice. Be realistic – perhaps just set 10 minutes aside 6 days away to start with – that’s an hour of practice done in a week, easy!
